Foster Care Awareness Month in May

There is a pressing need to dispel myths surrounding child welfare and shed light on the complexities faced by youth in care. As we confront this challenging reality, it becomes evident that youth aged between 13 and 18 require love, guidance, and a committed family to stand by them. They need a permanent connection, a caring adult capable of supporting them.

Our vision for the future as a Foster Family Agency not only includes families willing to embrace children but also address the needs of Transitional Age Youth (TAY) and sibling groups with compassion as our guiding principle.

Through our Pathways to Permanency program, we support this goal by providing multiple pathways for youth to establish lasting familial bonds. Foremost among our objectives is the reunification of youth with their birth families whenever possible. If this isn’t viable, we diligently seek out a resource family within the youth’s network who is prepared to make a lifelong commitment through adoption.

We deeply honor and understand the significance of maintaining connections with kin and loved ones, fostering a sense of belonging and continuity. Let’s heed the call to action by bringing awareness to the needs of youth in care. Join us in celebrating Foster Youth Awareness Month and championing the vision where all children and youth live with a committed, permanent, and nurturing family with strong community connections and the support, and trauma-informed services needed to thrive.
